Applications for the Maintenance Ambassador postition with the Clean & Safe Program are accepted on Wednesdays from 9:00 AM-Noon. No exceptions. Applications must be filled out in person at the Clean & Safe office located at 1111 Sixth Avenue, Suite 101. No exceptions. Applicants with valid driver's licenses are required.

Maintenance Ambassadors provide some or all of the following services:

Sidewalk sweeping
Trash and debris removal
Power washing sidewalks
Systematic graffiti removal
Landscaping
Tree maintenance
Weed abatement

The Safety Ambassador team is contracted through Service Group, Inc. SGI can be contacted at (619) 234-8900 during regular business hours and their website is http://servicegroupinc.com/. The Program Manager is Melvin Chestnut.

Safety Ambassadors provide some or all of the following services:

Deter quality of life nuisance crimes such as aggressive panhandling
Work with the Homeless Outreach Team (HOT) to provide social service outreach referrals
Assist with directions and information
Add a presence in downtown to prevent undesirable behavior
Maintain open communications with police to report on-going issues
Conduct routine patrols
