The East Village is a 111 ½ block neighborhood that is evolving into a residential community; in fact the greatest amount of development in Downtown is occurring in the East Village. The East Village is home to PETCO Park and the San Diego Padres, several high-rise residential condominiums with more on the way, large commercial warehouses and a number of social service providers.
East Village is known for the Urban Art Trail; artistic planter wells, sayings painted on the sidewalks, and murals adorn buildings. It has medium level foot traffic with expected increases as a result of the new Ballpark and the continuing residential and retail development. Most of the sidewalks in this neighborhood are 200 feet by 300 feet in length, except for the super blocks between 15th and 16th Streets.
